With a reputation as one of the hottest men in Hollywood to maintain, it's important Ryan Gosling keeps in shape.

And the 31-year-old actor proved he is taking his fitness very seriously as he displayed his bulging biceps yesterday.

The Gangster Squad star, who is dating actress Eva Mendes, looked ripped as he flaunted his arm muscles in a grey tank top while leaving the Fitness Factory gym in West Hollywood, California.

Ryan kept the sweat off his face in a blue baseball cap, and had thrown on black jeans and boots as he made his way home from his workout.

In recent weeks, the rumour mill has been sent into overdrive about the possibility of the pair getting married.

Ryan is currently re-shooting scenes from his latest movie, Gangster Squad, following the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado during the opening night of the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises.

A gunman opened fire in the movie theatre killing 12 people, including a 12-year-old, and injuring 58 others.

In an unhappy coincidence, Gangster Squad features a dramatic scene where gunmen shoot up a movie theatre from behind the screen before bursting through it and taking aim at moviegoers.

A clip from the movie shows those inside the theatre panicking and screaming as machine guns are shot.

Although the Gangster Squad trailer had been due to be shown before The Dark Knight Rises in cinemas across the U.S. it will now not be shown.

It is also thought the scene could be cut from the final release because of the tragedy.

However, it is believed the re-shoots were planned before the shooting occurred.
