How to Watch the Movie for Free Online
The Suicide Squad is the new movie from DC about its band of supervillains forced into impossible missions. After the first version of Suicide Squad in 2016 was considered by many to be a creative failure, many comic fans have high hopes for this version from Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.
Those fans will soon be able to see for themselves how the new film is, as it is in theaters in the U.S. now after coming out in other territories in July.
As the film is a Warner Bros. release, it will also be available to watch online for free for HBO Max subscribers for a limited time, as the streamer is airing all WB movies on the day they come to theaters in the U.S. for the whole of 2021.
Viewers hoping to get to watch The Suicide Squad through a HBO Max free trial, however, will be disappointed. Around the time that Wonder Woman 1984 came to the streamer, they also removed their free trial, copying a move previously taken by Netflix and Disney+.
That does not mean, however, that there is not a legal way to watch the movie using a free trial.
How to watch The Suicide Squad online for free
Though HBO Max does not offer a free trial itself, you can access a trial for the streamer another way. Hulu has an option for subscribers to add HBO Max as an add on.
Though it is the same price to get HBO Max with Hulu than it would be on its own ($14.99 a month), Hulu offers a seven-day free trial of the service for people who sign up through Hulu.com. Hulu itself also offers a 30-day trial for its own service.
In order to watch The Suicide Squad or any other Warner Bros. movie, there is an extra step as those big movies do not show up on the Hulu version of HBO Max. Instead, subscribers have to head to the HBO Max website or app, click on "sign in" and then "sign in with a provider." Then all you have to do is sign in with your Hulu details and you will be able to watch the full catalog of the streamer for free for a week.
Among the other Warner Bros. movies coming to HBO Max are the Timothee Chalamet-starring Dune, the fourth Matrix movie and the Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark.
The Suicide Squad is available on HBO Max in the U.S. and Canada. In other countries, the movie is only available in theaters.
Wherever you watch it, wait until the end for a post-credit scene that sets-up a spin-off HBO project to the movie.
